James Goggin is the President of Goggin Safety Services doing business throughout Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. Jim’s primary focus is to assist business owners and contractors with developing a health and safety program through hazard recognition, program development and effective employee training.
Jim’s background consists of over 30 years of health and safety experience. His education includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Technology from Central Connecticut State University. Jim also received his Firefighter 1 and 2 Certifications from the CT Fire Academy. Jim recently retired from his full-time firefighter job with the Town of West Hartford. His role as an emergency responder, particularly when responding to construction accidents, has given him a unique perspective into the aftermath that results from poor safety performance by contractors. This perspective has made him even more vigilant in the pursuit of his safety goals and accident prevention.
Jim’s previous work history includes Safety Director, promoted to Risk Manager, for the City of Hartford for 12 years where he implemented a city-wide safety program for all city departments, including Police, Fire, Public Works and Board of Education. Jim’s experience also includes Risk Manager for Costello Industries, Safety Superintendent for Perini Corporation and Safety Director for Hartland Building and Restoration.
Jim has many certifications in the safety field. He is also certified by the State of Connecticut Department of Health as a Medical Response Technician. Jim’s specialized firefighter training includes rope rescue, confined space rescue, hazardous materials for first responders as well as the EPA 40 hour HazMat training for site workers certifications. Jim is recognized as an expert in the field of Construction Safety and provides expert witness testimony.
